Concerned Veterans of America (the “Organization” or “CVA”) recognizes that visitors to our respective websites, web properties, and mobile applications are entitled to know how we collect, use, and maintain information we collect or may collect about them. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use that information, with whom we will share this information, and related information. As used in this Policy, the terms “web site” or “site” include any CVA mobile application, whether or not explicitly stated.

In order to fully understand your rights we encourage you to read this Privacy Policy as well as our Terms of Use. We reserve the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting changes on our Site. Any change will be effective immediately upon posting, unless stated otherwise, and your continued use of the site means that you accept these changes without reservation and any expectation of prior notification of any changes.

What Information We Collect

Concerned Veterans for America collects two types of information from users: contact information such as zip code, email address and demographic information; and aggregate information such as information about traffic patterns on our site (for example, how many users log on or otherwise access the site each day).

Contact Information: Our registration forms and certain other parts of our Site require users to provide contact information that may include name, email address, format preference for communications (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and other such similar information. This is information you voluntarily give to us to register, create a profile, fill out a survey, comment or otherwise use or interact with parts of our Site. By submitting personal information to us, you agree, accept, and understand that we may use the information in accordance with this privacy policy.

Aggregate Information: Our Site is set up to automatically collect and report aggregate information. Aggregate information is data collected about the use of our Site or about a group or category of services or users, from which individual identities or other personal information has been removed. This policy does not in any way restrict what we can do with aggregate information.

Financial and Sensitive Information: We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, such as credit card or social security numbers, though our site may include links to other sites which do collect, use or store this type of information.  It is your responsibility to review and agree with the privacy policy and terms of use for these other sites, as these may be different from our policies.

Internet Protocol Address:
We collect an IP address from all visitors to our Site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you access the Internet. We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable informationL we use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users’ movement through our site, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content.

Our Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Site. Cookies are pieces of information are used for record-keeping purposes at many Web sites. All information provided to Concerned Veterans for America is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. We also protect your information by placing it in a database system operating onplatform that meets both industry and government/military security standards, accessible by certain qualified representatives of Concerned Veterans for America. Unfortunately, however, no Internet activity is 100% secure. While we make every effort to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

One of the most common security vulnerabilities is through sharing passwords. To protect the confidentiality of personal information, you must keep any passwords provided for members-only portions of this site confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of our Site by any person using your password, including any penalties for violating our Terms of Use or this Policy (for example, you may be banned if a person uses your password to post inappropriate material). Please advise us immediately if youbelieve your password has been misused or compromised.

Online Petitions:

When you use our Site, information you post in your profile, blogs, forums and other interactive areas of our Site, as well as any information you share with individuals through our  Site or share through social network sites, will be available to other users and, in some cases, may be publicly available. In addition, when you sign up or create an account, certain information regarding actions you take through our Sites, such as joining a group, may be made available to other users and, in some cases, may be publicly available. We are not responsible for the actions of any third parties with whom you share personal information, or who view information that is made publicly available.

What Choices Do You Have Regarding the Use of Your Information?

You may “opt out” of receiving text messages, email updates and newsletters by following the instructions in those text messages and emails. Please note that we may still send you other types of emails, such as emails about your use of our Site, or use information as otherwise described in this Policy, even if you opt out of receiving email updates and newsletters.

You can view or modify information choices stored with your user account by accessing the Manage My Account page. Changes to information choices in your account do not affect information provided to others as set forth in this Policy, including in connection with petitions or donations or that has been previously shared with like-minded organizations, groups or causes.
